Meet Kate

Hello!

I believe each person has their own natural rhythm, intelligence and creative expression.

My role is to help people reconnect with that.

Sometimes this happens through music.
Sometimes it happens through nervous system support.
Sometimes it happens through counselling, reflection and the simple experience of feeling safe, seen and understood.

Across Piano with Soul, NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback and Soul-Centred Counselling, my work is grounded in the same belief: when a person feels safe, supported and met as a whole human being, growth happens naturally.

Whether you are seeking piano lessons for yourself or your child, exploring neurofeedback as part of your wellbeing journey, or looking for gentle counselling support, you are warmly welcome here.

My Story

A gentle, experienced guide for music, counselling, learning and nervous system support

Kate Dansie brings together more than 30 years of experience in music education, mentoring, counselling and whole-person learning.

Her work sits at the meeting point of creativity, emotional wellbeing, nervous system support and personal development. Whether she is teaching piano, supporting a child to find confidence, offering Soul-Centred Counselling, or introducing someone to NeurOptimal® neurofeedback, Kate’s approach is calm, deeply individualised and centred on the whole person.

She believes growth is never just about technique, tools or strategies. It is about helping each person feel safe enough to explore, express, regulate, understand themselves and reconnect with their own inner rhythm.

From music education to whole-person development

Before moving to Australia, Kate spent almost 20 years working in the UK primary school system as a Music Coordinator and class teacher. Her background includes curriculum writing, staff training, class music teaching, choirs, orchestras, school productions, performances and creative rite of passage programs.

This gave Kate a broad and practical understanding of how differently people learn, process, express themselves and grow.

She has worked with gifted students, sensitive students, children with educational or emotional needs, and learners who simply need a different kind of pathway. Over time, this became the foundation of her person-centred approach: one that sees the whole person first.

That same understanding now flows through all three areas of her work: music education, neurofeedback and counselling.

NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback

Through Living Fully, Kate offers NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback, a non-invasive brain training system designed to support the brain’s natural self-regulation.

Neurofeedback sessions provide a calm and supportive space where clients can rest while the system gives the brain real-time feedback. This process is designed to support flexibility, regulation and resilience within the nervous system.

Kate’s neurofeedback work naturally complements her music and counselling background. All three modalities are grounded in the same philosophy: when the nervous system feels safer and more supported, people often have greater capacity to learn, connect, create, adapt and participate in life with more ease.

For children, teens and adults, neurofeedback can be part of a gentle wellbeing pathway that supports the whole person, rather than focusing only on a single symptom or behaviour.

Piano with Soul

Piano with Soul was created from Kate’s belief that music can be both technically enriching and personally transformative.

Her lessons support musical development, while also nurturing confidence, creativity, self-expression and wellbeing. For some students, that means learning to read music, build technique and prepare for a performance at school or at home. For others, it means gently rebuilding a relationship with music after pressure, perfectionism or past discouragement.

Kate’s approach is not one-size-fits-all. Each student is met as an individual, with their own learning style, pace, personality and inner world.

For children, this often means helping music become a source of confidence rather than pressure.

For adults, it may be a totally new pursuit. It might also be a return to the piano after years away, reconnecting with creativity, or discovering that music can become a grounding and joyful part of life again.

Soul-Centred Counselling

Kate also offers Soul-Centred Counselling for children, teens and adults.

This is a gentle, reflective and compassionate form of support that honours the emotional, mental, relational and deeper inner life of each person. It offers space to be heard, to make sense of what you are carrying, and to reconnect with your own sense of clarity, meaning and self-trust.

Kate’s counselling approach is calm, intuitive and person-centred. She meets each person where they are, without pressure to explain everything perfectly or arrive with all the answers.

For children and teens, this may include emotional language, creativity, gentle conversation, confidence-building and support through school pressure, friendships, sensitivity, family dynamics or life changes.

For adults, Soul-Centred Counselling can provide space to slow down, reflect, process emotions, explore patterns and feel supported through stress, overwhelm, grief, transition or personal growth.

Sessions are available in person or via remote video call.

Three pathways, one whole-person approach

Although Piano with Soul, NeurOptimal® neurofeedback and Soul-Centred Counselling are different offerings, they are connected by the same foundation.

Kate’s work is grounded in safety, attunement, creativity, nervous system awareness and respect for the individual.

For some people, music is the doorway.
For others, neurofeedback offers a place to begin.
For others, counselling provides the space to be heard and supported more deeply.

Each modality offers a different pathway back to connection: with self, with learning, with expression, with regulation, and with life.

Why Kate’s work is different

Kate’s work is for people who want more than a transactional lesson, appointment or session.

It is for families looking for a piano teacher who understands the whole child.
It is for adults who want to reconnect with music in a meaningful way.
It is for sensitive, creative or neurodivergent learners who need a more attuned approach.
It is for people seeking gentle emotional support through Soul-Centred Counselling.
It is for people exploring nervous system support and wanting a calm, experienced practitioner.

Across Piano with Soul, NeurOptimal® Neurofeedback and Soul-Centred Counselling, Kate creates spaces where people can feel met, supported and gently encouraged into growth.
